CARRY AKROYD’s knowledge and understanding of her land-locked Northamptonshire landscape is deep and for the past carryfulmars20 years her vibrant paintings and serigraphs are often inspired by the work of nineteenth century ‘peasant poet’ John Clare. Her recent fully illustrated hardback book about her work ‘Natures Powers and Spells’ tells of how her interest in Clare unlocked her creativity and empowered her own interest in wildlife and landscape change. She is a frequent visitor to Cornwall and her work with the Society of Wildlife Artists has taken her to various coastal locations including, recently, the Isles of Scilly.  “an artist with sharp eyes who works in vivid colours and bold decisive shapes” - Christopher Somerville ‘The Times’. She has just completed an illustration odyssey of 288 colour and black and white illustrations for ‘Tweet of the Day’ Published by BBC books as a follow up on their popular Radio 4 series, published April 2014.
